I passed the test!

Backstory

Last month I wrote how Atlas Health was the only place in North Lakes, Brisbane and all Australia that takes a specific x-ray view that shows the misalignment or subluxation of the vertebra in the upper neck, which can contribute towards migraines, headaches, trigeminal neuralgia, low back pain, dizziness and multiple sclerosis to name just a few health conditions.

It is unfortunate that there are so few doctors in Australia who provide Upper Cervical specific chiropractic care (12 the last time I counted, which includes myself) when so many people need help. Last October, I attended the Blair Chiropractic AGM in Las Vegas and passed a test for basic Upper Cervical proficiency (or Step #1 as I've called it). Step #2 is for Instructor certification, which allows a chiropractor to host seminars and teach other chiropractors.

The test I just took was for the Instructor Certification, and I passed. What this means is that (finally) I can start to teach other chiropractors in Australia Upper Cervical Care.

What is Retracing in the Healing Process?

It was a very quick trip (5 days in total including the flights). I stayed in San Francisco with Dr. Tom Forest and his wife Chris for 3 days, which was wonderful for such a quick roundtrip. Dr. Forest was joined by his partner in crime Dr. Dennis Campbell, who drove up 3 hours to administer the test.

I was expecting the test to be about 15 minutes: it was 2 hours. Fortunately, I was prepared for it. Not too many errors and the only ones I had were because I misread a few questions, not because I didn't know the answers. I didn't even have to bribe Tom or Dennis after the exam to let me pass (just kidding).

The next day we spent a few hours at Life West College of Chiropractic about 30 minutes away to instruct 4 young, dedicated chiropractic students … well, Tom and Dennis did. I just helped set up the AV equipment. Just like that, it was over, and I was back on the plane home the next day.

So what is the Next Step?

I'm hoping to put on the first Blair Upper Cervical Chiropractic seminar in Australia in November later this year. All I have to do is create the presentation(s), write the notes, find the space to do it, advertise the event, submit it to the relevant body for assessment, and then do it. Simple right?

For North Lakes and Brisbane, I'm just one person … and that's a lot of people who need help. I hope that soon, very soon through others we can make a much bigger impact so that Blair Upper Cervical care will be available in more communities across Australia.
