Questions & Answers with Dr. Jeffrey Hannah, Certified Atlas Chiropractor
Questions & Answers w Dr. Jeffrey Hannah
Dr. Jeffrey Hannah is an advanced certified instructor in the Blair Upper Cervical or Atlas Technique. If you are looking for a gold coast chiropractic centre that provides the Atlas Technique, you don’t have to travel too far to find us.
What are the difference between an “Atlas chiropractor,” a regular chiropractor and a physiotherapist?
A physiotherapist typically works on muscles in order to treat various muscular conditions of the spine. A regular chiropractor works on the effect that misalignments of the spine have on the nervous system, which can lead to a variety of neuromuscular conditions.
An Atlas Chiropractor focuses specifically on the top 2 bones in the neck - the atlas (C1) and the axis (C2) - by using advanced diagnostic tests to correct misalignments within a single degree that can affect the master control centre of your body: your brainstem.
Does the Atlas Chiropractic Treatment only adjust the neck?
Yes. However, the treatment is not limited to the neck. By correcting the alignment of the atlas and axis, we can positively affect the function of your brainstem, which makes changes everywhere else in your body. So even though we may only adjust the upper neck, we are often still able to help with health conditions anywhere and everywhere in the body.
This is very different from many other forms of chiropractic in Australia that only adjust where the pain or symptoms are located. Our primary focus is not on treating the effects but addressing the cause.
What types of Atlas Treatments are there?
There are actually seven distinct atlas chiro systems: Blair Technique, Atlas Orthogonal, NUCCA, Orthospinology (aka Grostic) QSM3, HIO Toggle-Recoil, and Knee Chest Specific. Even though there are subtle differences among this atlas chiropractic system, they are all similar in many ways:
• they use specific measurements and x-rays, not just “going by feel” before
• they use neurological tests to determine when you actually need treatment, not just getting the same thing done every time
• they do not use twisting the neck or spinal manipulation.
If you are looking for a gold coast chiropractic clinic that focuses on the specific alignment of the top two bones in your neck - the Atlas and ALSO the Axis - our approach may be able to help you.
Are there any Atlas chiropractor gold coast?
If you have done a Google search for “atlas chiropractor gold coast,” you may be struggling to find a practitioner. In southeast Queensland - and even though there are hundreds of chiropractors gold coast, there are only two with advanced certification in an upper cervical specific technique:
1 Dr. Darren Scheuner is an Atlas Orthogonal (AO) practitioner in Varsity Lakes.
2 Dr. Jeffrey Hannah is a Blair Upper Cervical practitioner in North Lakes
What we offer is similar in many regards, but still different in others depending on your individual circumstance and what you are looking for.
What is the difference between AO chiropractors and Blair chiropractors?
An atlas orthogonal adjustment uses a stylus instrument to correct the alignment of the C1 vertebrae only. A Blair adjustment uses a light wrist tap to correct not only the alignment of C1 but other the lower cervical vertebrae also if they are involved. From 2007-2012, I practiced the atlas orthogonal technique.
In 2012 I was introduced to the Blair technique, which I personally found to be more accurate and versatile in its ability to address misalignments of C2. Even though so much can be said about the atlas, the axis is just as important!
What types of Atlas Treatment does Dr. Jeffrey Hannah use?
Of the approximately 4000 actively practicing chiropractors Australia, Dr. Jeffrey Hannah is the only one with advanced study and certification with multiple treatment methods. He is advanced certified in the Blair Technique. He previously practiced and has certification with the Atlas Orthogonal method (and has been listed as part of the atlas orthogonal chiropractors directory).
And he has also completed advanced studies with QSM3, Palmer Toggle Recoil, and Knee Chest work, and has informally studied the NUCCA and Grostic (aka Orthospinology) on his own.
What types of conditions can an Atlas Treatment help?
An Atlas chiropractic adjustment is not a diagnosis or treatment for any condition. The purpose of an atlas or axis adjustment is to restore the normal alignment and motion in order to take mechanical pressure off of the spinal cord, blood vessels, and other tissues that affect the master control system of the body: your brainstem.
Your brainstem controls every function and the health of your entire body. So it is possible for an Atlas Treatment to help almost any known condition but simply allowing the body to heal - naturally - the way that it is designed.
Some of the more common conditions that an atlas treatment gold coast may help include the following:
• vertigo and dizziness
• chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia
• TMJ or jaw problems
• tingling or numbness in the hands
• facial neuralgia or other symptoms
• concussion and whiplash injuries
• multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions
How do you do a revive upper cervical chiropractic treatment work?
The first thing that we do is specific neurological tests that show us if you need an adjustment.
To the best of our knowledge, we are the only chiropractic gold coast clinic that uses specific neurological testing in the form of computerized infrared thermography on every visit. If you need an atlas adjustment, we take a series of detailed x-rays tailored for your own body structure that shows where and how we need to adjust.
With this detailed amount of information, we don’t need to twist, crack, or manipulate the neck. We simply use a light tap - equal to how to would feel your pulse - in order to restore the alignment of your Atlas.
If you are looking for an Australian chiropractor who specifically focuses on the relationship between your upper neck and nervous system, Dr. Jeffrey Hannah is the only Australian chiropractor with Advanced Certification in the Blair Atlas Technique.
