Chronic Fatigue, Stress & The Upper Neck

Chronic Fatigue, Stress & The Upper Cervical Chiropractic Connection - North Lakes, Brisbane, Australia

We live in a world of overwhelming stress. Even if you are a champion Olympic swimmer, even you cannot swim against the current of the ocean forever. Eventually, the ocean will win. If we are unable to adapt to the stress in our lives, so too will we succumb to them?

Problem #1: Draining the Battery & Chronic Fatigue

The first problem is that we have too much stress. In this constant state of distress - a state called “defense physiology” - our central nervous system is not able to operate at 100% capacity. Spinal misalignments reduce the exchange of information between the brain and the body (and visa versa). It is like draining a battery down to 80% or 60% or 20% and still expecting the same amount of power for the same length of time.

How many years have you been living with relatively high levels of stress? What do you think happens to your heart if it only receives 50% of the information it is supposed to receive for that length of time? How about your thyroid and adrenal glands, which produce energy?

How about your muscles, which stabilize your joints? It is believed that chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia are the results of this continual drain on your body's resources. I think you get the idea. Chronic fatigue and never-ending stress abuse the spinal-misalignment protective mechanism.

In turn, this causes a long term to drain on your body’s ability to keep you alive, healthy and well. Problem #2: When a Misalignment becomes a Subluxation The second problem deals with a paradox when it comes to the body’s ability to heal itself. We have already identified a couple of things:

  1. Misalignments occur in the spine all the time
  2. Your brain creates these misalignments on purpose.

Your body is a self-healing, self-regulating mechanism. If you cut your finger, your body heals on its own. It isn’t an antiseptic or bandage that heals. Life is what heals. IF you successfully reduce stress in your life and IF  your brain no longer needs to protect itself from information overload, your muscles will relax. If so the joints of your spine will return to their normal positions.

This will restore the normal free flow of information between your brain and body. And your health will be restored to 100%. ... But is this what actually happens? No! And that is the paradox that we're going to address in the next article!
