Vertigo & Meniere's Syndrome - Look to the Neck

Posted in Balance Disorder on Feb 15, 2016

Meniere's Syndrome, dizziness, and vertigo are among the very few conditions that research is demonstrating are caused by a misalignment of the upper neck. Still, hundreds of people in Brisbane and around Australia are informed that there is "no known medical cause to Meniere's Syndrome." Meniere's is not a pathology, but a series of symptoms - the primary being vertigo and/or dizziness The Blair Upper Cervical Society has posted on their website a recount of 10+ years of research done by Dr. Michael Burcon, a Specific Chiropractor from Michigan who has described a 97% success rate in helping people  to overcome their vertigo:

 Meniere's Syndrome

I have attached one of Dr. Burcon's many papers at the following link: Meniere's Syndrome - Michael Burcon Dizziness and vertigo are among the most common symptoms that people experience (I would estimate it is the third most common in my practice just behind headaches and spinal pain).

I don't claim to have the same success rate as Dr. Burcon, but I would say that I have pretty darn good success in helping people who suffer from Meniere's, dizziness and/or vertigo. The form of care that Dr. Burcon and Atlas Health (North Lakes) offer is called Blair Specific Chiropractic care. It is not the same as general manipulation but involves making very precise and measured corrections of the upper cervical vertebrae in order to restore the proper functioning of the nervous system.

As it relates to dizziness and vertigo, there are neuronal receptors in the neck that transmit directly into centers of the brain associated with visual acuity and balance. It is why if you hear a loud "BANG" noise you reflexively turn your head towards the noise.

However, if this reflex is disrupted by a vertebra exerting tension on the spinal cord, it can and often does result in headaches, dizziness, and/or vertigo. Atlas Health is the exclusive Upper Cervical Specific Centre in Brisbane, located just off the Bruce Highway in North Lakes.
