Posture isn't about Laziness - Its About Your Brain

In order for your brain to work properly, it must be level with respect to gravity. The problem starts if you suffer an injury that causes the top vertebrae in your neck to subluxate. The injury didn't break or dislocate anything, but it caused the atlas or axis to shift just enough that your body is not able to bring them back to the proper neutral position. This causes your body and posture to compensate in order to keep your head as level as possible.

Several characteristic changes follow:                                                                               

Your head rotates slightly, shifts to one side, and sticks out forward. Of note, an adult's head weighs 4-5 Kg, but for every 2.5cm that your head juts forward that weight multiplies by two (which is the major reason that so many people suffer headaches and tight shoulders).

One-shoulder shrugs up, looking higher than the other. This creates further tension through your shoulders but also extends into the middle part of your back. One hip lifts up, looking higher than the other. This creates imbalance through your pelvis that can cause the discs and joints in your lower back to wear down prematurely, which is one of the major reasons that so many people experience low back pain.

A posture problem is actually a nervous system problem.

Although slouching, sitting too much, and not exercising enough all contibute towards posture problems, posture is not just a matter of laziness. It is a reflection of your body's internal structure, and how your body is compensating so that there is the least amount of tension on your spine and central nervous system, and it is one of the easiest and best indicators to tell if you are in need of a chiropractor.

So go have a look in the mirror. Is your head on straight? If the answer is no, do you think it's a good idea to have that looked at sooner than later before it starts to cause other problems?  Posture is one of the first and simplest ways to determine if you need to see a chiropractor, and it actually about the brain and not just about laziness.
